This past weekend a fundraising event was held at the Bike and Bean in Upper Tantallon. The event was a huge success, the organizers had a few words to say that we would like to pass on!

We are pleased to announce that Aerobics First has been recognized with the 2011 Ubuntu Award. Founded by Balega, A US-based sock company, the award recognizes the running store that has demonstrated a true sense of community by giving back, changing their community for the better and for the long term.
Ubuntu is an African concept. It is a philosophy focusing on people’s allegiance and relationship to others. A person with Ubuntu is welcoming, hospitable, warm and generous. In short, they are willing to share.
The last snowfall may have melted, but winter is still on its way. As runners we know things are going to change. When the snow hits, running outside is a whole new game. For some it means bringing the workouts inside, hitting the gym more often, and running on the treadmill. For those of us who brave the ice, snow, and cold, here are a few tips to keep you safe this winter.
Most training plans are filled with tempo runs, speed work, hill work, long runs, fartleks, cross training, and so on. With all of these workouts to complete, the "easy run" often takes a back seat. It's easy to forget that to improve your fitness you need to rest and recover just as much as you need to train hard.
