Here I Go Again...

March 17, 2010 | 11:37 am

True to my word, there have been a few more runs popping up in my schedule these days... After a bit of a pre-St. Patrick's Day road trip with the Halifax Sauna Club guys to Ben Eoin for the Masters Ski Racing Series FINAL, I've run twice this week. Since Monday! That's big even in my race season. And it's feeling good! No music, no distance, no time... just running. And even some walking up some of the steeper hills I come across. Which I now know to be one of my stronger suits (listening to my body, swallowing my pride and thinking about the future health and big picture).

Spring has sprung...

And I'm itching to run again...

It seems this happens every year, that I go into what I call sloth-mode in early December. After too many multiple-coffee days and fast food restaurant visits however, and with the sun hanging around for a little longer and the roads and sidewalks of Halifax clearing up, I want to run again.

I feel this is a good and healthy pattern for me. It's happened before, and it'll happen again, but I know that I get almost giddy at the thought of o running/biking/swimming with friends and outside.

JLAWG #3 - The race that was (barely)

August 24, 2009 | 1:22 pm

Great race! With some could-a-been-major hiccups. Put the highs & lows in bullet form to report.. It's fun to write about this stuff. And write at all again for that matter. Highs go first, since it was a very positive day. The 'lows' are just funny. And if they were elminated completely, would I still be having fun?

Highs:
*Sleeping in a familiar (and super cozy) bed at Snowdrift (the Law Family ski cottage in Wentworth.. sounds rough, hey?)
*Waking up to sun and on time (my alarm didn't go off.. phew!)

JLAWG #2 - Solo rolling

August 17, 2009 | 2:15 pm

There isn't anything much less economical than a solo road trip. But that's just what I did this Sat/Sun (the hottest on the planet, ever) to make it to the TriParlee olympic triathlon at Parlee Beach in New Brunswick.  All went well, despite the 'heat' everyone was talking about. Compared to Calgary on the August long weekend (29, no ocean breeze, twice the distance, 1000 M altitude) this was not -as it was in CowTown- a walk in the park, but rather a race where I felt strong and surging for most of the time..

JLAWG #1 - Maybe, I Was Born To Run

New website! Sun is out! Winter stuff is coming in! Triathloning as often as I can! It's all good in the hood. All good in the hood!
